Rings For Mortal Men Playability

Postby Bandobras Took » Thu Oct 06, 2011 5:44 pm

So . . . anybody currently feel like playing a Ring For Mortal Men is worth heading off to Barad-Dur (because, as we all know, wandering around Dark-Domains is so safe for Hero/FW) and eliminating a character? I'm just taking a basic opinion poll, here.
Remember, NetRep rulings are official. This does not necessarily mean they are correct.

You probably aren't playing Fallen Wizards .

I read the text on Bilbo's Magic Ring. The item can be tested to play any other ring for any result.
Hobbits do cause problems; we know.

Why would a Ring for Mortal Men be of any use on a Hobbit? Dwarven Rings seem better for them.

Current version of the Ring for Mortal Men makes it playable quite easily, after facing a Nazgul/Ringwraith strike (and still at B-dur), so just drop down to Iron/Sulfur-deeps, look for CvCC against a RW, or kindly ask your opponent to use Adunaphel not for tapping but for attacking you at Woodmen Town :-)

The problem with necroing a thread is that design changes happen in the meantime. :)

I am a sucker for lonely threads with no replies. I did not know there was a term for reviving old threads until now.

I do visit SVN only to see the cards text now-a-days. I was thinking it was easier to use A Flight Unmarked
to visit Under-grottos to play Bilbo's Magic Ring. I have been trying to find a way for a hero-shadow-hold
user to visit the minion Lugular so to face the Nazgul AA. Then use a woman-man with A Barrow-Blade Dagger,
Hail of Darts or a Hobbit with No Waiting to Wonder.

Well I mentioned it to show that we do take people's complaints and tips seriously ;-)

Lugarlur is a DH though, not sure how a hero player could visit the minion version, don't think there is a way. We might come up with a card that adds a Nazgul auto-attack to a RW's home site, or something. Currently I'm planning a hazard adding a Fallen-maia auto to a Darkhaven if one player is Sauron (to free some space on other cards). But things shouldn't be too easy for Helm of Her Secrecy.

btw. You can face Ren the Unclean as permanent at Ulk Chey Sart, if you dislike the Under-deeps, perhaps a tad easier than Sauron at B-dûr.
