Just posted Episode 57 - LA Fest 2011.  This is a short interview I did with Mrs Jamtoss recounting some of the events in LA this past September.  This was my first Lebowski Fest in the city of angels, but I have been to LA a few times already.  There was a small group of us Midwest folk: Founding dudes, Xal, Duder, Brad, Mrs J, and myself I think.  We met up with some forum friends, and ate way too much In N Out.  We had a wonderful time.  DaFino even followed us around town.

This is part of us catching up on episodes from moving recently.  I'll be posting one more episode before Thanksgiving, and then two more episodes next month before Christmas.  Enjoy the holiday weekend and stay safe!

Lebowski glasses E-mail

It's getting close to Christmas and that means all us achievers are looking for Lebowski-related gifts.  Some buddies of mine alerted the royal we to these awesome etched glasses on Etsy.com.

Two 16oz glasses etched with Walter and Duder's faces for $16.  That's basically 50 cents per ounce of holding capacity, man.  These are also etched so there's no worry of losing Walter's flat top to the dishwasher.  Geekyglassware also offers to personalize these for a modest price.  Perfect gift for a holiday.

Medina Sod E-mail

For those of your more detail oriented Achievers, you'll remember one of The Dude's bowling shirts saying, "Medina Sod" on the back.  While most of us pronounce it as Muh-dee-na, it's actually a reference to a business in Orrville, Ohio.  There's also a Medina, Ohio and that town is pronounced like Muh-die-na, which is also how Medina Sod Farms is pronounced.

The shirt The Dude wears is a realy shirt from a real bowling team back in the 1960's and belonged to Art Myer.  At some point Art's shirt ended up in a second-hand store where it was bought by the film's costume designer.  I would assume this refers to Mary Zophres or one of her staff.  I find this a great tidbit of trivia surrounding The Dude's shirt because I've always wondered how he's come into posession of his bowling attire.  It's not like his shirts say "Jeffrey" or "Dude."  All of them are obviously acquired second-hand.

I don't really dig bursting bubbles, but as far as I know Medina Sod Farms still does not have bowling shirts for sale.  The article below was written in 2008 and some friends of ours have tried to purchase a bowling shirt from the business.  I must give the 7-11 crew some recognition for attempting to educate everyone on the "real" pronounciation of Medina Sod.  I've been aware of the town for some time, but didn't put two and two together until a few years ago.

So there's a bit of trivia for you.  What other cool stories do you know of?

Here's one for my friend who goes by "Dudeabides."  I know she knits and this would probably be less work than making a sweater.  I found this at a site called The Testy Knitter.  They made a tiny little dude complete with sweater, caucasian, and a bowling ball.

Here's a picture:

Inside Llewyn Davis is the Coen Brothers' next feature film.  I'm excited because both John Goodman and Justin Timberlake will be acting in it.  I know Timberlake isn't always looked upon as a great actor, but I think he's hilariously funny on SNL and did a great job alongside Jeff Bridges in Open Road.  This film will follow the folk music scene in New York during the 1960s.  It is slated to be released in 2013, so we'll have plenty of time to learn more about the movie before its release.

I read some interesting thoughts on the word "chinaman" today written by David Tang.  David doesn't think the word itself is such a bad thing, but it seems most people don't agree with him.  What do you think?

Check out the second question/answer in the link below to see what Tang wrote.

Lack of posting E-mail

We've gotten some questions about the lack of posting lately, so I'm going to assume more are wondering than are asking.  The Lebowski Podcast HQ is in the process of moving back to Indiana.  Things should pick up again in about a week.  We have a couple of great interviews from the LA Fest, and other content just waiting to be posted.

Take it easy, Dudes.  I know you will.

I don't know man, I just can't look at Vice President Biden in the same way anymore.  I didn't know he felt so strongly about THE WORST BAND EVER.

Thanks to Liz for alerting me to this photo gallery, and thanks to buzzfeed.com for posting this.  Hilarious.
