Originally set to release on December 25, 2010, the Coen Brothers' next film has been moved up a couple days to December 22rd. Christmas Eve falls on a Friday this year and all the other big hitters coming out that week are also being released a couple days early. Contending with True Grit for ticket sales are:

  • Gulliver's Travels
  • Little Fockers
  • Country Strong
  • Somewhere
  • The Illusionist

If you go see a film that week, be sure to go see True Grit and show your support.  If you haven't seen the trailers yet, check them out below.

I've enjoyed the True Grit trailers, but have you noticed that they basically lay out the WHOLE story (I mean, more than usual). Do you think that's because they assume that most people have already seen/read the original?

    Just curious, Duder.

Oh I've definitely noticed that too. Possibilities could include...

    a) It's based on a not-new novel

    b) A movie adaptation has already been done that received a lot of attention. John Wayne won an Oscar for his role as Rooster Cogburn.

    c) Poor marketing?

    How're those for ideas?

"That is to say your eye?" That line of Matt Damon's has been in every trailer I have seen at least on tv.
